Terms of Service – Digital Homeschool Portfolios
Effective Date: 1/2/2026
Welcome to Homeschool-Portfolios.com and our digital homeschool portfolio services (“Service,” “Portfolios”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the digital homeschool portfolio pages (“Portfolio”) created, hosted, and managed by Homeschool-Portfolios.com (“we,” “us,” “our,” “Company”).
By accessing or using a Portfolio created through our Service, including viewing, sharing, or downloading portfolio content, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not access or use the Portfolio.
1. Who May Use the Portfolios
Portfolios are created only at the request of a parent or legal guardian for their child. Portfolios are not designed for children to administer, manage, or access independently. Children under 13 should not use Portfolio management functions or account controls without supervision by the parent who requested the Portfolio.
Portfolios may be viewed only by:
- the parent or legal guardian who requested the Portfolio,
- individuals the parent shares access with (e.g., evaluators, relatives, tutors),
- anyone else the parent authorizes.
Parents are responsible for managing and controlling who has access to Portfolio links and passwords.
2. Ownership of Content
All materials displayed in a Portfolio, including student work, photos, academic information, project files, text, and media, are owned by the parent or legal guardian who provided them.
By submitting content to us, you grant Homeschool-Portfolios.com a non-exclusive, revocable license to host, display, store, and transmit this content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.
We do not claim ownership of your content or the student’s materials.
3. Privacy and Children’s Data
Portfolios may include personal information about children, such as academic work, project photos, achievements, optional images, or videos. We handle this data according to our Privacy Policy and Children’s Privacy section, which are incorporated into these Terms.
We do not collect data directly from children. All information we receive is provided by parents or legal guardians.
We do not sell, rent, or use children’s information for targeted advertising. Parents control what information is included and who may view it. Federal Trade Commission
4. Access & Sharing Controls
Portfolios are:
- password-protected, and
- visible only to those with explicit access per the parent’s instructions.
Parents decide how to share access. We are not responsible for unauthorized sharing, screenshots, or redistribution of Portfolio content by anyone who receives access from a parent.
5. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- attempt to bypass any security features or protections on Portfolio pages,
- copy or distribute content without permission from the content owner,
- use Portfolio content to harass, exploit, or harm a child or third party,
- scrape, index, or automatically process Portfolio pages without authorization,
- misrepresent your identity when accessing a Portfolio.
We may revoke access or suspend service for violations.
6. Accuracy of Information
We do not verify the accuracy of academic records, grades, or content provided to us. Parents are responsible for ensuring that the materials uploaded into Portfolios are accurate and appropriate. Portfolios are not official academic records unless otherwise designated by a state or evaluator.
7. Service Availability
We aim to keep service available, but we can’t guarantee uninterrupted access, zero downtime, or perfect performance. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time, with reasonable notice when practicable. Parents will be notified of material changes to access or features.
8. Retention & Deletion
We retain Portfolio content according to your plan and our data retention practices. Parents may request edits, temporary deactivation, or permanent deletion of a Portfolio at any time by contacting us.
Permanent deletion requests are irreversible once completed.
9. Intellectual Property (Platform)
The design, structure, software, and templates that make up our Portfolio system are owned by Homeschool-Portfolios.com and protected by copyright and other laws.
This does not restrict parents’ ownership of content they supply.
10. No Educational or Legal Advice
Portfolios are organizational tools, not educational endorsements, legal advice, or official school transcripts. Parents are responsible for compliance with local homeschool rules, evaluations, and record requirements.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Homeschool-Portfolios.com is not liable for:
- outages or access interruptions,
- unauthorized sharing by users,
- inaccuracies in content provided by parents,
- indirect or consequential damages.
Our maximum liability, if any, is limited to the amount paid for the Portfolio service.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted online with a new Effective Date. Continued use of Portfolio pages after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
